It was about eight years ago, I had just gotten out of a frustrating relationship and finding someone new was not on my to do list. I had just moved to Florida and was getting to know my new roommates and adjusting to my new job.
My roommates and I all went swimming to go cool off and show off our new bikinis. I looked up from the water and see these adorable dimples staring back at me, and this deep southern accent arose from his mouth. We just sat there in the pool talking for what seemed like hours. We had so much in common it was crazy. When it was time to go I really wasn't sure the next time I would see him, we started walking back to our apartment and he was following. I began to think well that's creepy till he goes to unlock the door right next to my apartment. It was then we realized that we were neighbors and just found out even though we had lived there for more than a week.
We ended up spending so much time together (as friends) that we could barely be seen apart. About two to three weeks after we had met, while walking home just talking and laughing, he looks over at me and says one of the cheesiest lines I had ever heard. "You are my cup of tea." I giggled at him and then said, "well, I guess you are my cup of tea too." That's all it took, we were two kids crazily in love.
About nine months passed and I moved back to Minnesota and he moved back to Louisiana back to our home towns. I get a call from him about a week after we left and he tells me he bought a ring and was coming after me. He took his first plane ride in his life with one suitcase, no car and no place to live. My country boy showed up in a snowman jacket during a snow storm. This was the first time he had seen snow.
He had given up his old life for me, which was a huge decision. Now we have been happily married for six years and experiencing the love of raising our two year old daughter.
