The Work of My Dreams
(Clifton, NJ USA)
I have a counseling degree and was working for a non-profit organization. It was okay as a job and I knew I was doing some good, but I didn't feel as if I could help people the way I wanted to because of the stringent regulations surrounding mental health counseling.
However, I also teach yoga and meditation and when I really got into the Law of Attraction a few years ago I began to visualize a different way to organize my work life. I saw myself working from home, casually dressed, with people coming to me. I took as my model Julian of Norwich, a medieval mystic who lived in a small cell or set of rooms attached to a cathedral where people could come to her window for guidance. I began seeing myself integrating my spirituality into my counseling, too.
As I started to be able to see it, things began to change for me. Word spread among people I know and I got referrals for clients who wanted to see me at my home counseling office, which I decorated in peaceful colors with beautiful art and artifacts I've collected. Now I work at home in my yoga wear and integrate yoga, meditation, and counseling in a very rewarding practice that really helps people.
