One movie that comes to mind as a life changing experience was the movie Pearl Harbor back in 2001. The movie itself didn't exactly change me directly, but it had a profound effect on my older brother who is a big part of my life. I remember that summer how after he had watched it, he saw it many times again. For some reason it sparked in him the desire to sign up for the Army that very summer. I was used to always having my brother around as our family has been pretty close, so having him suddenly be gone and for over a decade because of one movie has had a huge effect on my life in an indirect way.
I watch Pearl Harbor now, and I always had a sense of patriotism and pride when it comes to our service members, but now it ties into my feelings of seeing my brother go off to war because 9/11 happened while he was still in boot camp. It was like my version of Pearl Harbor coming to life since suddenly the country as a whole was united and standing proud and strong, and my brother was a big part of that and I've supported him throughout all these years that he's still in the Army.
That movie will always remind me of one of the biggest changes in my life, and it still gives me pride in my brother, my country and my country’s history as well.
