Not Without My Daughter

by Chelsea
(Wisconsin)

I read the book “Not Without my Daughter” on a break from college. My mother had been trying to get me to read it for years, and for some reason. I finally caved and I am so glad that I did. Maybe it is something to do with getting older, but I think I learned so much about the mother / daughter relationship while reading this book, and it really made me so much more appreciate my own relationship with my mother. This book tells a heart wrenching tail so vividly that I often felt like I was really there. I had a hard time putting the book down and I ultimately stayed up most of the night to finish it, tears streaming down my face. Afterward I gave quite a bit of thought on how I might act in a similar sort of situation, and how our challenges work to inspire and change us. I feel that I am a better person for having read this book and would encourage anyone else to read it as well!
